The charming "Les Bergeries du Cabardès" is tucked away in a little Midi village yet is almost on the doorstep of two world heritage sites – the Cité de Carcassonne and the Canal du Midi. Comprising two imaginative barn conversions, it offers highly comfortable holiday accommodation in both chambres d'hôtes (bed and breakfast French-style) and gîtes (self-catering apartments).

In the heart of Cathar country, Les Bergeries du Cabardès makes a perfect base from which to explore Languedoc-Roussillon's Cathar castles, Mediterranean coast, Pyrenean peaks, Roman sites, medieval abbeys, and myriad hidden byways. It's also a great place just to relax, and if you've forgotten to bring holiday reading, Montolieu, the famous 'book village' is just 3 kms up the road.

Your host, Sue Griffiths, has spent almost all her adult life abroad - on the ocean, in the French Alps, in Crete, and especially in Corsica, before she finally found her dream home in this wonderful corner of Languedoc-Roussillon in 2005. Bilingual in English and French, she's a mine of information on how to enjoy the area to the most. She enjoys tailor-making special celebratory stays, romantic escapes, and short breaks based on themes and activities such as walking, wine-tasting or castle-exploring, either for yourself or as a gift to others.
